Our visit to Pelletiere Estate was a fun experience, we simply called it our first “Speed Tasting.” Before our trip to Paso Robles, Oct 1-3, 2023, I put out a Story on Instagram asking for suggestions on what wineries to visit. I got a lot of suggestions, and thanks to everyone who responded, but only one winery responded. Janis Pelletiere, proprietor of Pelletiere Estate. She said, “We’d love to show you our Italian varietals at Pelletiere Estate”. Our group is old (6 of us, Maita, Rob, Janna, Brian & Mariko), and we can only handle one tasting in the morning and one in the afternoon lol, so I told her we would try to stop in if we could find time to do so. Fast forward to Oct 1, Sunday, we just finished a nice lunch at Thomas Hill Organics and realized we had some time before our 2 p.m. tasting appointment at L’Aventure (more on that in another post). We headed over to Pelletiere Estate. We pop in and notice we really don’t have that much time, 1/2 hour at most. But Janis says let’s let’s do this! Grabbed some glasses, and some bottles, and we gathered around the table for a rapid history & story of the winery and the three wines we got to taste. Gulped those down, bought a few wines, and bolted out of there.

Thanks to Janis, we got the fastest tasting and purchase I’ve ever had haha! She was more than gracious to have us even though she knew we were in a rush, and she happily accommodated us and pointed us in the direction we needed to go to make it in time to L’Aventure. I highly recommend a visit next time you’re planning to go to Paso Robles! Thanks so much Janis!
